It is also known under other common names, including broad-leaved mahogany, Brazilian mahogany, large-leaved mahogany, genuine mahogany, tropical American mahogany.
Big-leaf mahogany is a large-statured canopy emergent tree at maturity. Stem diameters as large as 3.5 metres have been reported, with buttresses rising 5 or more metres up the base of the tree and crowns 70 metres tall and up to 40 metres across.
Growing from seeds:
sow about 2cm deep in sowing soil mixed with sand. Keep constantly moist and warm (25-30°C) until germination starts after about 1-3 months.
