Alstonia scholaris, Devil Blackboard Tree, Ditabark
Alstonia scholaris, commonly called Blackboard tree, Indian devil tree, Ditabark, Milkwood pine etc... is a large growing tree from the Indian sub-continent. It is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for many ailments including Malaria. In this respect it is believed to work in the same way as Jesuits Bark (Quinine). It is a member of the large Apocynaceae family, whose members generally have poisonous, unpleasant or medicinal properties.
