Bryonia alba, also known as the "white bryony" or "wild hop", belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae. Its synonym include Bryonia vulgaris Gueldenst. ex Ledeb. This is specifically chosen due to its medium confidence level as a synonym in relation to Bryonia alba, as well as its contributing data set with still being "in review" status based on World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (WCSP). Another factor considered was of the synonym not being labeled as an invalid or illegitimate name. Bryonia alba is a native to Europe and Northern Iran, and has been introduced to the United States where it is considered as an aggressive invasive weed in certain states like Idaho and Montana.
