The plant is in traditional african medecine used as a topical ointment against jaundice, toothache, ulcersa and to treat muscular-skeletal problems. The seeds are sought after as pieces of jewelry and as good-luck charms and to enable communication with the spirit world.
Seeds are about 2cm thick and about 4-7cm in diameter
Growing from seeds:
Because of its really thick seed coat it is absolutely necessary to take a metal file or sandpaper and do some work on the seed, then put it in water and let soak for 1-2days. If seed doesnt swell then take it out again and do some more work with the file. If everything worked then plant about 2cm in depht with it's flat side. it is no problem if seed isn't completely covered with soil. Keep moist and warm for about 4 weeks.
