Yellow Pear Tomato seeds

The Yellow Pear tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum aka Solanum lycopersicum) is an heirloom whose history traces back to 19th century Europe. The heirloom was first introduced to England in the early 1800’s before it was transported across the Atlantic to the United States. What followed was a spreading of the plant’s seeds throughout North and Central America. Yellow Pear tomatoes are yellow in colour and have a diameter of 1 to 2 inches. The miniature-sized fruit derives their name from a strong resemblance in shape with pears. The fruit retains their firmness even after they’re mature. Maturation is set to continue even after the plant has been picked.

Yellow Pear tomatoes are immensely sweet and a delicacy by themselves. The fruit has a classic tomato flavour that makes them an ideal accompaniment for a lot of dishes. Yellow Pear tomatoes are widely used in the preparation of pasta, sauces and appetizers. The tomatoes can also be diced and their sweetness employed to liven up a salad. The Yellow Pear tomato is indiscriminate and very productive. Tomatoes grow in clusters that hold numerous fruit that all mature around the same period. It takes between 73 and 80 days for the plant to grow, mature and produces ripe fruit.
